Each EU member state has its own national rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it is worth noting that <strong>purchased periods are recorded in your career statement<\/strong> and are therefore recognized abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Buying Additional Quarters in France<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In France, buying additional quarters allows you to <strong>voluntarily pay contributions for uncovered periods<\/strong> so that they are included in the calculation of your pension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Conditions<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>To be able to buy additional pension quarters, you must meet the following conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be between <strong>20 and 67 years old<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Exception for internship periods<\/strong>: you must be at least 25 years old and not exceed <strong>December 31 of the year you turn 30<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Not have yet applied for a pension<\/strong> with the French Pension Insurance (Assurance Retraite).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Specific conditions may apply depending on the type of periods you wish to buy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To buy and validate your <strong>years of study<\/strong>, the Assurance Retraite must be the <strong>first pension fund<\/strong> to which you contributed after your studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For buying <strong>internship periods<\/strong>, the request must be submitted <strong>within 2 years<\/strong> following the end of each internship period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Eligible Periods<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p><strong>Mandatory internships in a company<\/strong><br>These conditions must be met:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The internship must have been part of <strong>higher education studies<\/strong> (university, technical school, grande \u00e9cole, or preparatory class).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It must have started <strong>after March 14, 2015<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>tripartite agreement<\/strong> must have been signed between the educational institution, the host organization, and you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The internship must have been carried out <strong>within the same organization<\/strong> (company, public administration, parliamentary or advisory assembly, association, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Its duration must be <strong>at least 2 months<\/strong>, consecutive or not, within the same academic year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The internship must have been <strong>paid a stipend<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Any 2-month period<\/strong>, consecutive or not, counts as <strong>one validated quarter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> You can buy a maximum of <strong>2 quarters per internship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Years of higher education<\/strong><br>These study periods must have led to the <strong>award of a diploma<\/strong>.<br>Admission to a <strong>grande \u00e9cole or preparatory class<\/strong> is considered equivalent to a diploma, regardless of the country where the institution is located, as long as it is in the <strong>European Union or Switzerland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost of buying quarters depends on the <strong>option you choose<\/strong>, your <strong>age<\/strong> (whether over or under 40), and your <strong>income over the past 12 months<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Incomplete years<\/strong><br>These are <strong>calendar years<\/strong> in which your professional activity did not allow you to validate 4 quarters (i.e., one full year).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To determine if you have incomplete years, you can consult your <strong>career statement<\/strong>. Note that <strong>no response within 2 months is considered a rejection<\/strong> of your request.
