{"id":3295,"date":"2025-05-23T12:33:06","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T10:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/livingandworking.preprodwi.fr\/?p=3295"},"modified":"2025-05-28T14:46:14","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T12:46:14","slug":"luxemburgische-studienbeihilfen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/livingandworking.preprodwi.fr\/en\/2025\/05\/23\/luxemburgische-studienbeihilfen\/","title":{"rendered":"Luxembourg Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Luxembourg student financial aid system, known as <strong>AideFi<\/strong>, allows eligible students to pursue higher education without financial constraints or parental resistance being a barrier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\"><strong>Target Audience<\/strong><\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>All individuals enrolled in higher education\u2014whether full-time or part-time\u2014may be eligible for AideFi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Part-Time Students<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Part-time students must take between <strong>15 and 17 ECTS credits per semester<\/strong>, or follow at least <strong>half the minimum duration<\/strong> of the study program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Secondary School Students in Vocational Training Abroad<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in general or technical secondary education may also be eligible, under the following conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The vocational training is <strong>not offered in Luxembourg<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The training must be conducted <strong>full-time at the school<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student must be considered \u201c<strong>abroad<\/strong>\u201d from the perspective of their place of residence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>An official request, including the <strong>enrolment confirmation and training program<\/strong>, must be sent by post to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Service de la formation professionnelle (SFP)<\/strong><br>29, rue Aldringen<br>L-2926 Luxembourg<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligibility Conditions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\"><strong><strong>For Non-Residents<\/strong><\/strong><\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>Non-resident beneficiaries must be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A worker (or self-employed) <strong>from Luxembourg, the EU, EEA or Switzerland<\/strong>, working in Luxembourg at the time of the application; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A recipient of a <strong>Luxembourg orphan\u2019s pension<\/strong> and a national of the aforementioned countries; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A child of a national from these countries, who contributes to the student\u2019s support and works in Luxembourg at the time of application, <strong>provided that one of the following criteria is met<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The parent has been affiliated with Luxembourg\u2019s <strong>CCSS<\/strong> for at least <strong>5 cumulative years over the past 10 years<\/strong> before the application; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The parent has been affiliated with the CCSS for at least <strong>10 cumulative years<\/strong> at the time of application; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student has completed at least <strong>5 cumulative years of education<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In a public\/private institution in Luxembourg offering fundamental, secondary, or vocational education;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the <strong>Deutsch-Luxemburgisches Schengen-Lyzeum Perl<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a program leading to a <strong>Bachelor\u2019s, Master\u2019s, Doctorate<\/strong>, or <strong>medical specialization diploma<\/strong> at the <strong>University of Luxembourg<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a program leading to a <strong>Brevet de technicien sup\u00e9rieur<\/strong> accredited by the Minister;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In an <strong>accredited foreign higher education institution<\/strong> established in Luxembourg;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or, the student has <strong>legally resided in Luxembourg for at least 5 cumulative years<\/strong> at the time of application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Remarks:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Internships<\/strong> do not qualify as employment and do not open the right to AideFi.t to AideFi.Convention de stage) werden nicht als Erwerbst\u00e4tigkeit anerkannt und berechtigen nicht zur AideFi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employment with <strong>European or international institutions<\/strong> in Luxembourg, as well as receiving <strong>pensions, annuities, or unemployment benefits<\/strong> from the State, count toward the required affiliation period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Children of the partner or spouse in the household meeting eligibility conditions are also concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A student living in Luxembourg <strong>solely for study purposes<\/strong> and earning less than the <strong>minimum social wage<\/strong> is considered <strong>non-resident<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\"><strong><strong><strong>AideFi Structure<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>AideFi consists of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An optional <strong>student loan with interest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Various cumulative grants<\/strong>, and<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Practical Arrangements<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\"><strong><strong><strong>Types of Grants<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Basic Grant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Granted to all eligible students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Amount<\/strong>: \u20ac1,228 per semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Mobility Grant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For students studying in a country <strong>other than the household&#8217;s residence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Requires proof of housing expenses (lease, rent receipts, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Amount<\/strong>: \u20ac1,528 per semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Social Criteria Grant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Awarded based on <strong>household income<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Income must not exceed <strong>4.5 times the gross minimum social wage<\/strong> (MSW).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Family Grant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Available when <strong>2 or more children<\/strong> from the same household are eligible for AideFi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paid in a <strong>single installment<\/strong> during the summer semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Amount<\/strong>: \u20ac294 per student per semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><br>Student jobs <strong>limited to 10 hours per week<\/strong> or during holidays <strong>do not impact<\/strong> the social grant.<br>However, <strong>any other income<\/strong> may reduce the aid or exclude the student if it exceeds <strong>3.5 times the MSW<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\"><strong><strong>Student Loan<\/strong><\/strong><\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>The loan is <strong>optional<\/strong> and may be declined.<br>Eligible students can apply for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Basic student loan<\/strong>: \u20ac3,250 per semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Supplementary amounts<\/strong>: based on <strong>tuition fees<\/strong> or <strong>social criteria<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The loan:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is <strong>guaranteed by the State<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be taken out with a <strong>partner bank<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bears a <strong>maximum interest rate of 2%<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repayment begins <strong>no later than two years after graduation or termination of studies<\/strong>, with a maximum repayment period of <strong>10 years<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In cases of financial difficulty, students may request an extension from their bank, reviewed by an advisory committee and decided upon jointly by the Ministries of Higher Education and Finance.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\"><strong><strong><strong>Non-Cumulation Rule<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>Luxembourg\u2019s AideFi <strong>cannot be combined<\/strong> with equivalent financial aid from the student&#8217;s <strong>country of residence<\/strong> (e.g. grants, family allowances, housing support).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Non-residents must <strong>provide official certificates<\/strong> from their country stating which aids were granted or denied (except if denied on administrative grounds).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exemptions<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Merit-based scholarships;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International mobility aid (e.g. <strong>Erasmus+<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\"><strong><strong><strong>Students with Disabilities<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>Students with disabilities may benefit from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deferral of academic performance review<\/strong> beyond the standard two-year limit, if justified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u20ac1,000 extra per year<\/strong> in both grant and loan, if they face extraordinary expenses;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Extension<\/strong> of AideFi eligibility period;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\"><strong>Application Procedure<\/strong><\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-content\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non-Resident Students<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>AideFi is a <strong>substitute aid<\/strong>.<br>Applicants must <strong>first apply<\/strong> for financial aid in their <strong>home country<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Competent Authorities by Country:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Germany<\/strong>: BAf\u00f6G<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Belgium<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Allocations d&#8217;\u00e9tudes (French Community)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Studietoelagen (Flemish Community)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Studienbeihilfen Ostbelgienbildung (German-speaking Community)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>France<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CROUS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regional Councils (for healthcare and social programs)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>official response<\/strong> (approval or refusal) for the current academic year must be <strong>attached<\/strong> to the AideFi application.<br>Administrative rejections are not accepted.<br>Certificates must be renewed <strong>annually<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Online Application<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Accessible on <strong>MyGuichet.lu<\/strong> in two modes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Without authentication<\/strong>: for users without LuxTrust or eID.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>With authentication<\/strong>: allows form auto-fill, status tracking, and access to previous applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications can be submitted <strong>before all documents are available<\/strong>. Missing items can be added later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notifications are sent via <strong>email<\/strong> (confirmation, updates, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First-Time Application<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Must include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ID document (if unauthenticated);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student\u2019s bank account details (RIB);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificate of enrolment with the <strong>program name and degree<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional documents<\/strong> may be required depending on the grant type:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Registration fee<\/strong>: invoice + proof of payment;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Social grant<\/strong>: household income certificate (or tax documents for non-residents);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mobility grant<\/strong>: lease agreement + proof of rent payment;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Family grant<\/strong>: student number of sibling receiving AideFi;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Own income<\/strong>: last 3 income statements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Documents must be in <strong>Luxembourgish, French, German, or English<\/strong> (or translated accordingly).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Subsequent Applications<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Required documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New enrolment certificate;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of foreign financial aid (if any);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Academic results (from 3rd year onward);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any updates to the student\u2019s situation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social criteria documents<\/strong> are mandatory for <strong>winter semester<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non-Resident Specifics<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to standard documents, non-resident students must also provide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proof of family allowances or declaration of ineligibility;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificates of school attendance in Luxembourg (for those with 5+ years);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Official proof of aid application in the home country\u2014renewed yearly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u26a0\ufe0f AideFi <strong>cannot be granted without official documentation<\/strong> from the foreign authority.<br><strong>Deadlines must be respected<\/strong> in both countries.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deadlines<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications must be submitted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>By <strong>30 November<\/strong> for the winter semester (form available from August 1);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By <strong>30 April<\/strong> for the summer semester (form available from January 1).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each semester requires a <strong>new application<\/strong>, even for annual enrolments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disbursement<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>After processing, the <strong>Financial Aid Office<\/strong> sends an <strong>approval letter<\/strong> indicating the granted aid (scholarship and\/or loan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>grant is transferred<\/strong> to the student\u2019s bank account <strong>within 2\u20134 weeks<\/strong> after receiving the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a <strong>loan<\/strong> is requested, a <strong>secure yellow certificate<\/strong> is issued for the bank (containing a QR code), which must be kept.<br>No duplicate is provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Appeals<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Any <strong>rejection of AideFi<\/strong> is an <strong>administrative decision<\/strong> and may be contested through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Administrative appeal<\/strong> (gracious or judicial), within legal deadlines;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ombudsman intervention<\/strong>, as an alternative dispute resolution path.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Further information can be found on the website of our partner\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/frontaliers-grandest.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Frontaliers Grand Est\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Luxembourg student financial aid system, known as AideFi, allows eligible students to pursue higher education without financial constraints or parental resistance being a barrier.
